    Westside Circus will be offering classes for ages 3-17 during Term 1, 2012.

    Westside will deliver our special brand of socially inclusive circus workshops to participants. Our circus classes emphasise fun, teamwork, trust and inclusiveness while enabling young people to improve their confidence and coordination. Our Circus Trainers are skilled in teaching circus and in creating a group culture where everybody is included and can develop their potential.

    Brunswick classes run Monday-Saturday.

  • Heartlands Refugee Fine Arts Prize 2012

    Victorian art prize now open to talented refugee artists.

    Paintings, drawings, photography and mixed media works by refugee artists who have arrived in Australia since 1970 are now being sought for this year’s Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize. A total prize pool of $15,000 will be shared by three primary prize-winners, a new arrival prize and eight honourable mentions. First prize is $5,000 plus a solo exhibition and artist in residence opportunity. Shortlisted entries will be showcased at the Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize exhibition, held at fortyfivedownstairs in Flinders Lane from June 6-16.

    The Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize is presented by AMES and Multicultural Arts Victoria in partnership with VicHealth and Parks Victoria. It celebrates the skills, talents and creativity that refugees bring to Victoria and the social and cultural contributions they provide to our community.

    A Story Telling and Tales from Lands Afar. The Story-teller for this session is Ms Lynne Healley. Lynne is a Darebin resident. She will be sharing her extensive travel experiences to many countries around the world and her insight into the various cultures. She will then draw comparisons with the Australian culture and her learning into Australia perspectives. Get ready for a fun evening of intercultural exchange through stories from different places in the world.
